We are excited to announce that the Surrey Half Marathon is now officially taking registrations for the next race on 12th March 2017. Team WSB are once again joining the race and have secured a limited number of places for supporters to run for just £22 per place!
The official launch party took place at Woking Leisure Centre on 14th September. The Deputy Mayor of Woking and members of the local press came along to take some snapshots of all the supporting partners and our Events Fundraising Executive Danni was interviewed by the Surrey Advertiser.
The Surrey Half Marathon has been the County’s largest half-marathon for the past 4 years, and according to a survey carried out last year, raised £0.4 million for charity in 2016; with our Hospices as the local charity partner. We’re excited to be involved with the event again as charity partners for 2017, and have a charity places available for our supporters. Team WSB had 140 runners in the 2016 event who together raised an incredible £45,000 for the Hospices. In addition to the title Half Marathon event and Kids’ Race – which saw over 500 children take part in 2016 – a brand new 5km run has been added for 2017. Race Director Toby Jenkins (pictured above) says that the 5km “is a very achievable distance for beginners” who want to enjoy the Surrey Half experience, but who are not ready to complete 13.1 miles. He goes on to say: “The Surrey Half Marathon 2017 will be a bigger and better event for runners, spectators, volunteer, local businesses and spectators alike. Do join us.”
